The two big News presently trending in US and Nigeria has to do with the Beauty Queens, their travails, escapades and experience. Most of what we can ordinarily deduce from both stories is that some people and organizations set up the contest as a cheap platform to exploit overly ambitious young girls-promising them fame and fortune at the expense of their moral judgment. The former Miss Anambra Beauty Queen scandal immediately comes to mind as stories are filtering on how a so called Chief sponsored her after she signed a deal that will make her famous and pay back backfired. The Donald Trump scandal is also trending at the same time with a former Beauty Queen accusing Trump of setting up the contest to satisfy his amorous desires.
The Devils offer has not changed, the same way he presented to Jesus over 2,000 years ago is same way he presents it to people of great destinies-promising to make them famous faster than God had planned it for those people.
” Again, the devil took Him to a very high mountain and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory. “All this I will give You, he said, “if You will fall down and worship me.” Matthew 4:8-9
Yes! Jesus was to have authority after he has suffered and died on the cross, but now the Devil is promising to make it faster and easier with no price to pay than simply “fall down and worship me”
Oh! How many believers have fallen for this trap. Some for instance started with Gospel Music and ended with vulgar worldly music for the want of fame and vainglory. One of the most famous and successful Gospel artist is Frank Edwards, he shared his a testimony of how he was offered to be made famous if only he would remove Jesus from his lyrics-an offer he rejected at the mothers advice. Today, he is still famous without compromising his faith.
My advice to believers is to rebuke the devil when faced with such temptation. Yes thats what Jesus did
