10 Hygiene Tips About the Vagina Every Female Needs to Know.

how to care for the vagina

We come across different posts talking about care of the vagina or we probably don’t come across any at all, we just use our own little knowledge to take care of what’s down there.  Well, in this post I’ll be giving 10 Basic and Essential Hygiene Tips about the Vagina every female NEEDS to know. Though I’ve made a hygiene post in the past but this one is only focused on the vagina (SEE THE POST> HERE<). Before I continue, we all know that the outer covering down there is the “vulva” right? And that the vagina is way inside but “the vulva” is usually called “the vagina”, so we’re basically talking about care of the vulva, or vagina as you may have it. Though these tips also provide a basis for good vaginal care because if the vulva is not properly taken care of, then the vagina would definitely be at stake.

You might have come across some of these tips, so let this post act as a reminder and for those who haven’t come across 80% of this tips, thank God you found this post! Now let’s get reading..

#1. Avoid using too much laundry detergent to wash underclothes. Using a mild soap is more advisable ‘cause detergents could be too harsh. Rinse carefully after washing or double-rinse.

#2. Wash new underclothes before wearing. You have no idea what those undies might have gone through before getting to you. So to be on a safe side, always wash immediately after buying!

#3. Take a safe approach to shaving down below. Shaving is all the rage these days, and rage is what your lady areas will feel if you don’t do it right. You could cut yourself if you don’t shave carefully, and cuts act as a point of entry for bacteria. Your vulva is not a fun place to have a cut-related infection, so if you must shave, please take care or you may want to consider trimming rather than a full shave.

#4. Use soft toilet tissue, white only, to wipe down there after using the bathroom.

#5. After wiping with a tissue, use a feminine wipe or baby wipe to wipe down there(outer area and between your thighs only) in order to decrease any odor and you’ll feel quite refreshed after doing that.

#6. Don’t scratch down there! This could result into irritation, redness and even swelling. If you feel an itch, go check it out in the bathroom and if it’s nothing serious, give it a slight rub. If it’s something serious, then go see a Gynaecologist.

#7. Avoid these feminine hygiene products which can irritate the vulva: scented sanitary pads, feminine spray and deodorants, scented oils, bubble baths, bath oils, talc or powder.

#8. This is a very common tip. Use warm water to wash the vulva. Dry thoroughly with a clean towel. Never let soap get in contact with the vagina(the inside area), it can cause irritation and also change the normal ph of the vagina. Remember that the vagina cleanses itself, so you should be focusing on the outer area(which is the vulva) when bathing.

#9. It’s advisable to get a separate towel for your vagina. It’s a step to be on the safer side. You probably haven’t heard this before and might think it’s too extra, no it isn’t.

#10. At night let the vagina breathe by wearing nothing down there. After a long day of wearing booty hugging panties, this step is very advisable.
